Kaya came home with an assignment to design and make a leprechaun trap. She learned a few things about leprechauns in school and we looked up a few more things online. We even found a website with pictures of leprechaun traps that other kids have made. Kaya drew up her design and we worked together to get it made. Her original design was actually pretty good. I just had to talk her through a couple of the concepts to make it work.
Here is a picture of her design:

The idea is that the leprechaun will climb up the ladder to get the gold and fall through a hole in the box that is covered by grass. There is a small trap door on the front for Kaya to get the leprechaun out. Pretty creative!!

It really did turn out fabulous. If I were a leprechaun I would so want to live there:)

That is awesome. I will have to make one to catch me a leprechaun! :)
I love it! It is so much fun to do this in the younger grades. I'm working with second graders at the moment... ahh the innocence!
